Hello! I'm Emily, a clinical social worker specializing in therapy and healing for youth, teens, adults, and parents. Young people have been my favorite population to work with for a long time. But when I became a mother, I learned very quickly how challenging it is to give our love and energy to our babies and kids without losing ourselves along the way.

We offer a wide range of services, including diagnostic assessments, individual therapy, family therapy, and more. The therapeutic relationship helps people feel seen, valued, and understood. This is the jumping off point to exploring what works and what could change.
I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming provider, and believe the -isms are real. I have extensive training in trauma, while also drawing from acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic/self-psychology, strengths-based, and empowerment perspectives. Sprinkle on some feminism and keeping eyes open to systems that make life harder for folks, and that's my therapeutic approach.

Did you know that 1 in 5-7 women and 1 in 10 men experience a perinatal mental health disorder? It's the most common complication of childbirth, more than pre-eclampsia or gestational diabetes. You are not alone.

Young people commonly struggle with mental health symptoms too; it's tough getting to know yourself while dealing with stress, life, and school.

Many factors influence a person's mental health: biology (like genetics and hormones), early life experiences, individual and community stressors, or just feeling like we are supposed to be able to do it all.

I am a board approved clinical supervisor, available to meet with clinicians who are working toward independent licensure. My supervision style focuses on building a trusting relationship in which clinicians are able to explore their clinical interests, make ethical decisions grounded in social work values, and focus on their own wellness.

Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is the most important ingredient to a rewarding experience in therapy. For this reason I offer free 20 minute Get To Know You appointments prior to starting services. We can use this time to discuss your situation and what you are looking for in therapy. I can also answer any questions you have.
The frequency of counseling sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Most people find that starting with weekly sessions helps with feeling comfortable and improving symptoms more quickly. After a period of time, many people transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions.
Edelweiss Therapy and Wellness is located at the Counseling Collective in Oakdale, MN.
